In a city of millions of transit riders, access to affordable transit is a necessity. Since 2019, the Fair Fares program has been a lifeline for more than 350,000 low-income New Yorkers by offering half-fare MetroCards to those earning less than 120% of the federal poverty guidelines.
And while this is great for riders who are able to access the program, as it stands, the eligibility threshold is far too low for millions of struggling New Yorkers to qualify.
That’s why we’re proud to be joined by NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams at City Hall on Tuesday, November 19 to kick off our latest push to expand Fair Fares eligibility to give more working New Yorkers and their families access to half-fare transit.
