In a city of millions of transit riders, access to affordable transit is a necessity. Since 2019, the Fair Fares program has been a lifeline for more than 350,000 low-income New Yorkers by offering half-fare MetroCards to those earning less than 120% of the federal poverty guidelines.
And while this is great for riders who are able to access the program, as it stands, the eligibility threshold is far too low for millions of struggling New Yorkers to qualify.
That’s why we’re rallying bright and early at City Hall on Monday, March 17, to continue our latest push to expand Fair Fares eligibility and give more working New Yorkers and their families access to half-fare transit!
